Discounted Group Disability Program Launched by PIAM
(Waltham, MA, May 14, 2007) Physicians Insurance Agency of Massachusetts
(PIAM) is pleased to announce a value added benefit for MMS Members in practices
with 3 or more physicians. This new program has an exclusive discount
for MMS Members plus an added discount for MGMA members. PIAM has partnered
with two of the leading carriers in physician group disability insurance
so that physicians and their practices have an excellent choice of coverages.
Key highlights include:
• “Own-Specialty and Sub-Specialty” definition of disability,
which considers physicians disabled if they are unable to perform the essential
duties of their specialty or sub-specialty. This is the best definition
of disability available. Benefits continue even if physicians can practice
in another field of medicine other than their specialty or sub-specialty.
• “Guaranteed Issue” for practices of 3 or more. (Participants
are not required to provide medical history). For practices with
10 or more in the program, monthly benefit maximums are even higher; up
to $15,000 per month (depending on income).
• Optional protection can be added – coverage is available to
fund future contributions to a disabled physician’s pension plan and
to cover ongoing business overhead expenses during disability.
• Unisex rating making it especially cost effective for women.
